We are always on the look out for the perfect pair of jeans, bag, sweater etc. that we can pair with any outfit, any day of the week. After all, when you work long hours with no time for yourself, every little bit counts. So, if you can save yourself a half hour in the morning because you have that fabulous sweater in your closet (in 3 different colors) then ladies, I say- work it.

Doesn’t get much easier! by WorkWardrobe featuring J Brand jeans

The outfit I have created above is very easy to put together. The key is to pick one piece and work off of it. I chose the light blue sweater. When I first saw it I was thinking to myself, this is kind of dull. But, when paired with a thick brown belt and a pair of dark skinnies, the look just came together! Of course, if you work in a more conservative office, don a skinny black trouser over the jeans. But don’t be afraid to update your outfits by adding a belt or purse! Because then your go-to piece can change with every outfit. Now how easy is that?!

With the arrival of the August fashion magazine issues, we readers are tempted with pages full of the emerging fall fashions. We are still in the heat of summer, but that would never deter me from drooling over those over-the-knee riding boots! Ironically enough, one of my coworkers sent me a tweet the other day with the following statement: “What’s your take on over-the-knee boots? personally i vote no.” I of course replied with a shocked retort, and then I started thinking about this type of footwear at the workplace. Well I declare it can be done – albeit with much consideration for dress code. So in honor of my coworker friend, today’s coveted working look is dedicated to none other than the over-the-knee boot – and she just may see me don this gorgeous pair by Stuart Weitzman with a pleated skirt, textured hose and a boyfriend cardigan and skinny belt come fall at the office.

Here is a fantastic way to sport over-the-knee boots for a very appropriate business casual look! I am partial to the flat over-the-knee boot. It’s also much easier to work with in order to avoid toting the line of the ‘hooker boot’ look. However I declare that Jimmy Choo would dare not cross such a line! There is also the look below with Marc by Marc Jacobs being the genius label that it is, featuring over-the-knee boots that you can fold down if you feel over-the-knee is just a bit too tall for the workplace. Going out after work? Roll those boys up, lose the sweater and don a long gold chain and bangles, and you can strut your way straight into cocktail hour!

And remember how I said I was drooling over the over-the-knee riding boot? Well I can’t ignore my latest fashion obsession in a rundown of my coveted working looks! These gorgeous Frye boots may be worn very well by yours truly on an upcoming Casual Friday with dark skinny jeans, a tucked-in ruffled silk ivory blouse, an elbow-length black boyfriend jacket and cuff bracelet. My coworker may then realize that over-the-knee boots are not only office friendly, but almost a fashion necessity!

Have you ever gone thrifting and magically came across that one piece instigating the reaction of, “oh. my. gawwwd. I must have that”? Well, I for one definitely have and sometimes that piece ends up sitting in my closet collecting dust while other times I put it to good use. I would hate the former to happen to you, so I’ve taken a vintage concept and put it into a modern work look that I feel could class up any office space. A good rule of thumb is to pair your vintage item with other pieces you already have in your closet.

Elegant by WorkWardrobe featuring Marc by Marc Jacobs skirts

For example, in the outfit above the blazer looks extremely vintage and absolutely gorgeous. In fact, it is so stunning that you may feel as though it is too much for a day at the office. Well, that is definitely not the case. Besides, sometimes it’s nice being the most well-dressed lady in the room – or in this case, the board room!

Need help with any of your vintage pieces? Let us know!

Yes we may only be half way through the summer but that doesn’t mean our favorite stores haven’t begun to put fall clothes on their racks. It is my firm belief that while it is acceptable to start showing fall clothes at this time, it doesn’t mean some of us don’t still need a few summer dresses.

This outfit is dedicated to the fall season, that is apparently approaching rapidly. In this outfit I have combined textures while keeping a continuous gold theme throughout (Note: boots, purse, watch). The leather boots contrast against the green/brown army-inspired dress to create a very stylish and hip look. Fearing fall clothes?
I know that I am not the only one who often finds themselves wishing something would jump out of my closet and say, “Wear me!” on those days that I just want to go to work in my pajamas. A woman should always have at least one outfit she can always rely on to wear on those days where there is just no motivation.

A good example of an easy outfit to put together is the one above. This loose-fitting dress is very simple, yet can be turned into several different looks with the use of accessories and outerwear. We paired this dress with a khaki blazer and ballet flats, but this is just one of many wears you could wear this simple look.
When heading to work in the summer, it can be extremely challenging to find the right outfit seven days a week. I mean, after all, we only have so many clothes in our closet, right? Well, fear not, I am here to give you another way to incorporate your own clothes into your work outfit. This will not only save you money but also may spark some ideas on a few more outfits to get you through the week.

A Summer Look by WorkWardrobe featuring Miu Miu bags

In the look above, I picked pieces that seemed completely random but that we all have in some way or another in our closet, whether it be in the way back or brand new. To start, find yourself a “flowy” blouse, one that you feel comfortable in. Next, find a pair of high-waisted slacks. The idea here is that whatever top you choose, it can always be tucked into your pants. Once you have found these two key items, use accessories that you already have to enhance the outfit – for example a cute pair of heels or a matching messenger bag! Need help creating outfits to get through the work week? Let us know!

As I am a Chicago gal born and bread, I find it very important that I stay loyal to my Chicago sports teams. That being said, I would like to take a second to acknowledge the Chicago Blackhawks for winning the Stanley Cup! If you don’t live in Chicago you may not realize the devotion that Chicagoans have to their teams. But, I will say that if you did live here you would see Blackhawks apparel on everyone, everywhere you went.

Blackhawks! by WorkWardrobe featuring Maje jackets

If you are as passionate about Chicago sports teams as I am, then I know you don’t want to be left out of the celebration. As the days go on, Chicagoans still continue to wear their Blackhawks t-shirts around the city. So, if you are in an office setting that you feel like this would be allowed, why not throw on your Blackhawks t-shirt underneath your blazer and tuck it into your pencil skirt? This is a really cute way to still be office appropriate while showing your Chicago pride! Go Bhawks!

As most of us know, having a 9-5 job leaves only two options for getting our butts into the gym. There are the early birds who get to the gym by four so they can be showered and at the office by nine and then there is the after-work crew who despite their extreme state of exhaustion uses every last drop of energy to get themselves into the gym. More commonly than not, people prefer to go to work out after work to allow them the extra few hours of sleep in the morning.

From Work to the Gym! by WorkWardrobe featuring Nike

When choosing to go to the gym after work there are a few ways that you can make your life easier. First, use a tote bag rather then a briefcase or clutch to store your gym shoes, iPod, and whatever other supplies you bring to the gym. Another helpful way to make getting to the gym easier is to wear a tank top under your work clothes so that the transition into your workout outfit is half way done before you even get there!

What tips and tricks do you follow for your post-work workout?

There is nothing to say about this dress except: WOW! Leave it to a Narcisco Rodriquez to create a work-appropriate dress that screams out sensational sex appeal. I admit I’d probably pair a blazer with the garb just in case the sweetheart neckline had a little too much ‘neck’. Otherwise I feel this number would generate a lot of talk around the water cooler!

A short-sleeved blouse tucked into a metallic skirt. Only the skirt is a dress, and the dress has a bow…and pockets! I have a thing about pockets, and Diane von Furstenberg designed this garb for all of the pocket-loving frock-wearing career girls out there.

We all have our standard LBD’s hanging in our closets. However every once in a while it’s refreshing – not to mention empowering – to don a frock that has a little something more than the basic black. The color of this Anne Klein dress isn’t the only thing that is eye-catching, but the pattern is fun and springy while still maintaining a professional air without being too obnoxious.

We have officially entered the summer months, which mean many things. Yet most importantly it’s an excuse to go shopping for shoes. Depending on the office setting you work in the acceptable shoe choice may differ. In some work places it is more then okay to wear a cute pair of trendy gladiator sandals while in others it is a big no no to expose even your toes let alone your entire foot.

Shoes! by WorkWardrobe featuring Dolce Vita shoes

If you are one who works in an office with a more strict dress code, fear not, as you don’t have to suffer in a pair of heels all summer long. Ballet flats are in my opinion, a blessing. You can use them to dress up your outfit, or dress it down while remaining very comfortable! Check out all of the different styles of flats you can choose from and find one that would be appropriate for your specific office setting to make for a more comfortable summer at work!
